361 Degrees shoots new spot in Baotou, Inner Mongolia
A series of new spots have been filmed throughout the Far East by 361 Degrees in locations including Inner Mongolia in China. The adverts follow unknown athletes undergoing their training regimes as they prepare for the 2010 Asia Games.

Wilson Chow, Associate Executive Creative Director at Ogilvy & Mather Advertising in Beijing, said: “We were interested in the training and preparation that athletes go through day in and day out for their sport. We conducted research to find interesting stories about athletes or interesting training methods for the sports.”
Michael McDermott, an Executive Producer with Gung-Ho Films in Shanghai, explained the advantages of filming near Baotou: “Baotou is only an hour’s flight from Beijing and then it’s about an hour from the airport to the dunes. It’s a nice desert location that’s not too far away.”
Mr Chow explained that the production was kept small on location with five Chinese and three or four American crew members. The reduced scale meant the production could move more quickly between locations. He added: “We did desktop research and the production house helped to find local casting and research companies to find the athletes.”
The executive concluded: “With unknown athletes we were able to better reflect the brand spirit of 361 and what everyday athletes do to pursue their love of sport. We didn’t want celebrities to detract from the brand message.”
