New film fund launched
UK finance and production company Future Films and Canadian based Mediabiz International have launched a joint film fund. They will invest in co-productions from the UK, Europe and Canada.
The fund will be worth up to USD133 million and will cash flow tax credits, pre-sales and gap funding, as well as taking advantage of Canada's numerous co-production treaties.
Stephen Margolis, chief executive of Future Films, said:
“For the first time, this will enable us to fully finance projects without being dependant on other parties.”
Karine Martin, Mediabiz International President also added:
“After 10 years of having raised equity for film and television, Mediabiz can offer an additional financial service to the industry.”
