Thailand welcomes Kazakh Film Studios
Key industry figures in Thailand met with representatives from the Kazakh Film Studios recently to discuss mutually beneficial film related ventures.
Seksan Narkwong, Director General of the Office of Tourism Development, and Wanasiri Marakul, Director of the Thailand Film Office, met the delegation which was headed up by Yermek Amanshayev, president of the studio.
The delegation was in Thailand to shoot scenes for Florist and to explore post production and other production services in Thailand. Florist shot at the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi province and at a number of locations in Bangkok including Yaowarat Road and the Rommaneenat Gardens.
The studio invests between USD30 and USD50 million each year in film production and is backed heavily by the Republic of Kazakhstan's government. Mr Amanshayev expressed an interest in returning to Thailand to shoot additional movies and both sides agreed that there were many opportunities for future coproductions.
Wanasiri Marakul said: "We were very pleased that representatives from Kazakhstan were impressed by the locations they visited and the services they had an opportunity to utilise while filming Florist in Thailand.
