Cambodian festival faces financial difficulties
Cambofest, Cambodia's first and only internationally recognised independent film festival, is facing closure due to an emergency funding shortage.
The organisers of the festival are calling for contributions to help support it. Cambodia's film industry, and its media sector in general, experienced near-total destruction during the country's civil war and Khmer Rouge regime. It is only now starting to recover and Cambofest plays a key role in promoting the emerging industry.
