Michigan studios to be built
Michigan is on the verge of completing a deal that will see three film and television studios, worth an estimated USD80 million, built in the southeast of the state.
One of the facilities would be a multi-studio complex that would occupy up to 130 acres. Another facility would be for post-production work such as audio and editing.
Anthony Wenson, CEO of the Michigan Film Office, said: "It's a game-changer. We truly will have a year-round industry. We can see a television series shot here. We can provide space for filmmakers to build large-scale sets. We can greatly expand our offerings to the video and digital media community."
If the plans do go ahead, it will further secure Michigan's place at the top of US production. Its agressive new tax incentive has already created a USD100 million industry over the past nine months.
