Canada reverses decision on film tax credit

Canada’s government is to drop its controversial tax credit legislation that would have given them the power to withhold a tax credit if a production seemed to contradict 'public policy'.

Canada's Conservative minority government have prmoised that, if re-elected, they will not reintroduce the unpopular bill.

The majority of Canadian producers borrow against the tax credits to finance their productions so the possibilty of the government being able to step in and refuse funding would have jeopardised any project.
