KOFIC announces new commissioners

The Korean Film Council has announced the appointment of eight new commissioners who, together with KOFIC chair KANG Han-sup, will oversee the drafting and implementation of film policy.

The commissioners were selected in an intensive open registration process held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and were officially inducted to two-year terms in a ceremony held at KOFIC on June 30.

The new commissioners, in alphabetical order, are: CHO Hye-jung, film professor at the University of Suwon; JUNG Su-wan, programme director of the Jeonju International Film Festival and professor at Dongguk University; KIM Se-hoon, professor of animation at Sejong University; LEE Mi-yeon, film director (L'Abri); MIN Byung-chun, film director (Natural City); OH Jungwan, film producer (A Bittersweet Life, Night and Day); PARK Kyung-pil, chair of the Media Investment Council; and SHIM Sang-min, professor of culture and communication studies at Sungshin Women's University.

Among the eight commissioners, SHIM Sang-min has been selected to serve as KOFIC's vice chairperson for the duration of his term.

The new commissioners' terms will expire on June 29, 2010.
