Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico has expanded its location filming incentive package with a 20% tax credit for non-resident talent.
There are also other measures to encourage infrastructure development.
The tax credit amendment comes in addition to Puerto Rico’s existing 40% incentive on resident wages that was launched in early 2011. Nearly USD80 million of investment has come into the territory since this programme was made available.
Positioned in the north-eastern Caribbean, Puerto Rico is an unincorporated US territory.
At 100 miles long and 35 miles wide, it offers a rich blend of natural vistas ranging from Caribbean beaches and jungle rainforest through to atmospheric lakes and arid plains.
Puerto Rico scored a huge project with Captain America: Civil War, which went on to be the highest grossing film of 2016.
There’s a small pool of crew available on the main island itself and importing crew and equipment from the mainland US is an easy task.

Climate

Puerto Rico has a tropical climate with steady temperatures all year. Average daytime temperatures in the winter are 22.7C and 29.4C in the summer.

The trade winds cool the coastal towns and the temperature falls as you go up into the higher mountains.
The hurricane season starts at the beginning of June and finishes at the end of November. The Government of Puerto Rico also has a very effective emergency plan in place and now provides selected film projects with hurricane insurance coverage for the 2012 and 2013 hurricane seasons at no cost to the production.
