Treasure Island TV movie films on location in Puerto Rico
A TV movie adaptation of Treasure Island is currently filming in Puerto Rico. It’s the second pirate-themed production to have come to the US territory in the last few months, with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides having passed through recently.
Nadia Barbarossa, an Executive Producer with the Puerto Rico Film Commission, said: “They are shooting in [old navy base] Roosevelt Roads where the pirate boat is stationed, Cibuco Beach located in the town of Vega Alta, Cueva Maria de la Cruz cave located in the town of Loiza and La Selva Beach in Fajardo.”
The production includes Eddie Izzard as pirate Long John Silver, Elijah Wood as castaway Ben Gunn and Donald Sutherland as Captain Flint. Location filming will also take place in Ireland.
