The Location Guide News

It’s been a busy month here at The Location Guide. Our Film Friendly Locations database continues to grow, we’re hosting a fundraising event for Japan and next week we’ll be scouting western Norway on a fam trip.

Venice’s Ca’ Sagredo Hotel is now part of our Film Friendly database. It’s an elegantly designed 14th Century Palazzo that has works by some of the great 17th and 18th Century Venetian painters as its decor. Kasbah Tamadot near Marrakech in Morocco and The Roof Gardens in Kensington in London are both managed by Richard Branson’s Virgin brand. Kasbah Tamadot offers an Asounfou spa and a heated outdoor infinity pool. The Roof Gardens has an experienced events team and a central urban location.

Also in London we now feature The Victoria & Albert Museum, which offers period rooms and gallery spaces. It’s a very popular filming location, having hosted UK TV show Spooks and recent film shoots for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and Martin Scorsese’s The Invention of Hugo Cabret.

Uoll is a former railway building in Firenze, Italy. Once upon a time a railway track ran through it, but now it offers 400 sq m of modern renovated loft space that can be used for a variety of purposes. Easy access to Florence, parking space for 250 vehicles and the potential for crew catering could make it an enticing option for productions.

On Thursday 31st March we’re hosting a fundraising event in Soho to support the efforts of the Red Cross in the aftermath of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. We’ll be having a raffle and auction and we already have the support of lots of media companies including Envy, Getty Images, Audio Network, the APA, FlimLight and Framepool. If you’d like to get involved, please contact Clara.

Next week Nick will be representing us on a fam trip to western Norway. He’ll be travelling the region with Location Managers Jamie Lengyel and Piers Dunn, as well as Producer David Brown. The Location Guide will be presenting a discussion at the Western Norway Film Summit about international perceptions of the country as a filming location. Look out for a news story on the website in the coming weeks charting Nick’s experiences!
