Location Managers Guild of America to launch photography exhibit in LA

An exhibit showcasing the artistic talents of America’s professional location scouts and managers - members of the Location Managers Guild of America (LMGA) - will open in Los Angeles on April 16th 2011. ‘Downtown: Incomplete LA’ will be exhibited at the Terrell Moore Gallery for two weeks.

The exhibition includes work from 13 LMGA members who took part in the juried competition and became Finalists or Honourable Mentions. All the photos were taken in Downtown LA between specific urban boundaries.

Not many people see LA the way we do, through our lenses, scouting for locations to meet the needs of myriad projects.

Ken Haber, co-Chair of the competition and exhibit, said: “Most of us love photography but utilize it only in our role as Location Scouts and Managers. So often an amazing photograph presents itself as we are out there in the field but it doesn’t necessarily fit into the scope of the work at hand. This show allows our members to blend those two worlds and to show off their skills and creativity as photographers and artists.”

Lori Balton, President of the LMGA and a co-Chair of the event, added: “Not many people see LA the way we do, through our lenses, scouting for locations to meet the needs of myriad projects. Taken by pros on their downtime, these personal, intimate shots creatively recast Downtown’s usual suspects.”
