The Avengers starts filming in New Mexico with time also scheduled for Ohio and NYC
Superhero epic The Avengers has started filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico, uniting Marvel’s biggest characters into a single film. Over the next few months production is also scheduled for Cleveland, Ohio, and New York City.
John R Kasich, Governor of Ohio, said: “Ohio is thrilled to participate in a project of this size and with such top-notch partners. Cleveland, northeast Ohio and the state will enjoy the significant economic benefits of this production thanks to an aggressive, forward-thinking effort by people who spoke the language of the industry and who successfully sold Ohio.”
Production on The Avengers was originally planned for Michigan rather than Ohio, but doubts over the future of Michigan’s incentive scheme prompted a change.
New Mexico has a 25% tax credit, while New York and Ohio offer 30% and 35% figures, respectively. Production on The Avengers was originally planned for Michigan rather than Ohio, but doubts over the future of Michigan’s incentive scheme prompted a change.
