Bats take priority for Wrath of the Titans location filming in Wales

A colony of lesser horseshoe bats will have to be prioritised for the upcoming location shoot of Wrath of the Titans, the sequel to 2010 remake Clash of the Titans, when the film spends eight weeks filming in a Welsh quarry.

The first film was partly shot in Dinorwig Quarry, Gwynedd, and for the sequel the production has secured a quarry near Trefil, Blaenau Gwent. A colony of the rare bats lives here and their wellbeing will have to be prioritised during the shoot.

It would come to something if the gods and titans were brought down by some of the smallest creatures on the planet.

Spokesman, Wrath of the Titans

Ryan Greaney, a Planning Officer with the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, said: “The site provides a unique barren landscape for the film crews. But lesser horseshoe bats are known to inhabit the region and under the advice of the Countryside Council filming should be halted if they are at risk of being disturbed.”

A spokesman from Wrath of the Titans said: “It would come to something if the gods and titans were brought down by some of the smallest creatures on the planet.”

Like the first film Wrath will also film on location in Tenerife.
