Academy Films opens new division
The UK-based production company Academy Films have opened a new entertainment and online film division, Academy Content.
The division has opened after the success of the Nokia Somebody Else's Phone interactive and online drama. The job saw Academy work with Big Balls Films and Wieden + Kennedy.
Some of Academy Content's directors are viral and online communications specialists, with a background in both writing and directing concepts for web-based film. Other directors come from a more traditional tv commercials background, but have also turned their hand to directing online content.
James Cunningham, Head of Academy Content, said: "More and more people are sitting in bed with their laptops rather than sitting watching TV. TV will become an online medium, and that means that online content is undergoing a metamorphoses."
