Atlantic Studios opens as major facility in Iceland
Atlantic Studios has now been opened just outside Reykjavik and a few minutes from Keflavik International Airport on the site of Iceland’s former US airbase.
Jon Thor Eythorsson, the studio manager, said: “It has been our goal for many years to have a proper studio in Iceland to be able to facilitate interior shooting as well. This is why we decided to open Atlantic Studios.”
The Studios’ main facilities include 2,800 sq m of office space and a 2,200 sq m sound stage, while there’s also a 7,000 sq m studio lot and a four-metre-deep swimming pool that can be used as both a set and for underwater filming. In addition, a range of accommodation is available within walking distance from the studio, with both single and family facilities provided.
Mr Eythorsson concluded: “This is the first studio of this size in Iceland. This means that now we can service large international productions at Atlantic Studios.”
