The UK Film Council has launched a three month public consultation into its most significant revision plans since it was created in 2000. The revisions, known as UK Film: Digital innovation and creative excellence, set out the council's policy and funding priorities for the next three years.

In a first, prominent Bollywood producer and actor Shah Rukh Khan has been signed by the Korean Tourism Organisation as its cultural ambassador to promote tourism and to encourage Indian filmmakers to shoot in Korea. Korean Consul General, Dong Yern Kim, explained: "I am confident that Shah Rukh Khan’s appointment will enhance awareness and interest about Korea among his fans."

Israel is a country that takes its film industry seriously. The Treasury increased its film budget by nearly 16% to USD16 million this year with the money being distributed to Israeli film funds, foundations and institutions by the Israeli Film Council. When Vin Diesel directed the short Los Bandoleros, a prequel to the latest instalment of Fast & Furious, he chose to shoot the whole production in the Dominican Republic. Diesel's One Race Global Film Foundation, backed by Universal Studios, is also investing heavily in developing the country's industry. Diesel said at the short's premiere earlier this year that: "We had the whole country behind us making this film."
