Batman writer films Da Vinci’s Demons TV show on location in Wales
Wales has been picked as a double for Italy in new TV show Da Vinci’s Demons. A co-production between BBC Worldwide Productions and cable network Starz Entertainment, the show is produced by David S Goyer, who played a key role developing Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.
Ed Thomas is Production Designer on the project and spoke to This Is South Wales: “We are five weeks in and we are making South Wales look like Florence. The weather has been a challenge. It has not delayed things, but things look better in the sunshine.

“We have been shooting in Margam, Castell Coch and in the studios. We are planning to shoot in a lot more locations in the next couple of months."
Wales has become more popular as a filming location over the past few years, with Snow White and the Huntsman being one of the most high-profile recent visitors. Da Vinci’s Demons is expected to spend around GBP60 million locally.
