Brad Pitt’s Netflix film, War Machine, doubled London for Paris
Netflix’s upcoming satire, War Machine, was shot on location in Croydon’s Addington Palace and The Enterprise pub in Camden, the latter of which was doubled for an Irish pub in Paris. The Camden portion of the shoot required 200 members of cast and crew to be on site.
The shoot was facilitated by FilmFixer, who oversee filming activity in the London boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, Islington, Camden and Haringey.
FilmFixer Director, Andrew Pavord states: "this was a big shoot with a significant number of cast and crew to manage in inner London. But it was shot very quickly, in just a day, and a donation was made to a local charity, chosen by Red Lion Square residents. This sort of considerate behaviour helps ensure the next Hollywood-style shoot will be welcomed.”
He continues: “Brad Pitt and his production could film the interior of a Paris pub anywhere in the world. We're delighted that The Enterprise in London was chosen."
Croydon recently hosted filming on John Cameron Mitchell’s How to Talk to Girls at Parties, which was also assisted by FilmFixer. The film recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
War Machine stars Brad Pitt as General Glen McMahon, a character inspired by General Stanley whose controversial military career came to an end after being exposed by Rolling Stone magazine.
The production also filmed in Abu Dhabi, doubling the location for Afghanistan. Abu Dhabi is particularly popular as a double in this regard, as the emirate offers a safe evironment and a 30% cash rebate on filming.
The UK provides a tax rebate scheme to incentivise production activity. Through the scheme, feature films that spend at least 10% of their budget within the country can receive a 25% rebate.
War Machine will be available for streaming on May 26th.
