A new TV show called Dig is set to become the first US series to film entirely on location in Israel. The show will be a murder mystery set at an Israeli archaeological dig and is based on an idea originally developed by Israeli company the Keshet Media Group.
A new Chinese-language TV drama will film on location in Seattle in Washington State. Washington Filmworks is co-producing with China’s DMG Entertainment and the so-far untitled show will chart the lives of Chinese nationals dealing with life in modern America.
A TV miniseries based on the Coen Brothers’ Oscar-winning 1996 crime drama Fargo has started filming on location in Calgary in Alberta, Canada. The city is doubling for locations in northern Minnesota and is being supported by the Alberta Multimedia Development Fund.
Bourne Woods in Surrey in the UK has had its location filming regulations relaxed to give productions more access. The woods memorably doubled for a Germanic battlefield in the opening sequence of Gladiator in 1999 and recently appeared in a battle sequence in Thor: The Dark World.
Epic new feature Gods of Egypt will film on location in Australia in either Sydney or Melbourne, depending which offers the best filming incentive. The production will star 300 veteran Gerard Butler and tell the story of the murderous and vengeful activities of the ancient Egyptian deities.
Darlow Smithson Productions (DSP) will return to the historic Quarry Bank Mill in Cheshire, northern England, to film a second series of period drama The Mill. The new series will move forward in the mill’s history and chart the lives of workers from the late 1830s.
A TV miniseries based on the Robert Rodriguez road-movie horror From Dusk Till Dawn is filming in Austin, Texas. Quentin Tarantino wrote and co-starred in the original 1996 film that followed a group of misfits fighting vampires in a desert strip club.
Action sequel Fast & Furious 7 starts filming on location in Abu Dhabi this week. The shoot will initially focus on stunts, aerial filming and visual effects work, before the main cast arrives in the Emirate in January 2014.
