A California firm has announced plans to develop a film studio in the town of Schenectady in upstate New York. Pacifica Ventures wants to spend nearly USD70 million on filming facilities on a site formerly used by the American Locomotive Company (Alco).
New fantasy film The Moon and the Sun will film on location in Victoria, Australia, in 2014. The movie is based on a novel from Vonda McIntyre and tells a story of King Louis XIV of France capturing a mermaid to steal its life force.

Serial killer drama Dexter is coming to an end after years spent filming Long Beach in California as South Florida. The show told the story of Dexter Morgan, a Miami-based police forensics expert who spent his free time secretly tracking and despatching serial killers.
Five popular TV series set to dominate this weekend’s Emmy awards have Washington DC settings but were all filmed elsewhere in the US. Washington does not have a reputation as a particularly film-friendly city due to the lack of a filming incentive and obvious security concerns.
