Australia-based Taxi Film Production, a partner of the Production Service Network has filmed their latest commercial for IBM on an offshore oil rig. The spot demonstrates the practical use of Watson, a virtual assistant designed to help those who work in highly demanding and dangerous roles.
The latest commercial for COM HEM, the Swedish internet service provider was filmed on location around the island of Gozo, Malta. The Mediterranean country was chosen after a number of international spots were scouted, with The Producer’s Creative Partnership (PCP) providing production services.
ABC and Lonestar Company’s upcoming series about the history of the Torres Strait Islands is filming in the location itself and throughout Far North Queensland, Australia.
The third series of the BBC’s highly successful period drama, Poldark has now commenced filming with scenes being shot in Cornwall, Bristol and at The Bottle Yard Studios. All of these locations have been visited by the production in the past and will be familiar to fans of the show.
Netflix’s hit sci-fi series, Stranger Things was shot almost entirely on location within the state of Georgia, with portions also filmed at Screen Gems Studios in Atlanta. The state was used as a cheat for Indiana, which is currently without a film incentive programme.
Production has begun on the independent film, We Can Be Heroes as scenes are being shot at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol. Up to 17 days of location filming are also expected to take place at Kings Head Park in Bishopsworth, with the Bristol Film Office providing logistical support.
A financial report constructed by Norway’s Olsberg SPI Consultancy has revealed that the country received an overall intake of USD24 million from the two feature films, The Snowman and Downsizing that shot on location in 2016. The presence of these two production accounted for 142 new jobs with a total of USD12.7 million in payroll expenses.
HBO’s television film, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (adapted from the non-fiction novel of the same name) has begun filming in Atlanta, Georgia with scenes shot at Buckhead church.
