Both Serbia and Japan are featured as major locations in the upcoming horror film The Forest, set to premiere February 26th. The film’s namesake location is Serbia’s sprawling nature reserve Tara National Park, doubling for the Aokigahara Forest in Japan.
Trafalgar Square was closed on Sunday morning as filming took place for the upcoming superhero film, Wonder Woman. Roads leading into the square were closed off until 10:30am as the set transformed the area to mimic the City of London during the First World War.
The fourth season of BBC’s Sherlock will film on location in South Wales. While post-production work for the show has taken place in South Wales before, this will mark the first time that the series has ever filmed there. Previous locations to have featured on the show include London and Bristol.
The Level, a new six part drama series commissioned by ITV will film on location in London and Brighton in spring 2016. The series will be produced by Hillbilly Television, who have previously won a BAFTA for their made-for-TV film Random, and will be written by Gaby Chiappe and Alex Perrin.
The upcoming superhero film Wonder Woman will film in multiple locations throughout Italy in April. Of the Italian locations to be featured in the film, the list includes Castel del Monte in the Apulia region, and the city of Matera.
Technology company Apple have begun filming its first scripted series, Vital Signs. The show will be a semi-autobiographical drama about the life of hip-hop artist and entrepreneur Dr. Dre (real name Andre Young), who rose to stardom as part of the Los Angeles based rap group N.W.A.
The upcoming live action adaptation of the popular Japanese manga series, Ghost in the Shell has started filming on location in Wellington, New Zealand. The project will star Scarlett Johansson as the lead protagonist Motoko Kusanagi, with Michael Pitt having just been cast as the series’ iconic villain The Laughing Man.
In conjunction with production company The Ink Factory and AMC, the BBC’s upcoming drama The Night Manager was filmed in multiple locations around the globe, including Zermatt, London, Majorca and Morocco.
