Short film The Blow-Ins has wrapped its shoot in West Cork, Ireland. The film shot along the coastline and in the villages of Courtmacsherry and Kilbrittain. It was supported by Cork County Council in association with the Cork Screen Commission (CSC).
Martin Scorsese’s new 3D feature Hugo is set within a Parisian railway terminal in the early 1930s. The station was built at Longcross Studios near London and needed a working train track, while London’s Victoria & Albert Museum stood in for the Parisian workplace of Hugo’s father.
A Japanese production team went to Cork in western Ireland recently to film a Japanese-language feature. Tamatama (By Chance) was filmed in the village of Eyeries on the Beara Peninsula of West Cork and is about a lost Japanese girl washed onto the shores of an un-named mystical land.
French hiking equipment brand Quechua has filmed on location in Slovenia in Eastern Europe for its new commercial, We All Need Warmth. The spot is a mood piece showcasing wilderness wildlife, while campers cosy up with apparently tame animals, including prairie dogs and a bear.
Instant coffee brand Nescafé has filmed a new commercial on location in Mexico City for the local market. In the ad, a hypnotist freezes life in an urban square and rearranges the crowd into poses that encourage them to have a more emotional connection with their surroundings.
Steven Soderbergh’s added an all-out action movie to his eclectic CV. Haywire showcases the physical skills of real-life mixed martial artist Gina Carano, who in the film plays a black ops operative chased by Government agents. Several chase sequences were filmed on location in Dublin.
