Cheltenham Racecourse offering location filming flexibility in western England

Cheltenham Racecourse, near Gloucester in western England, has terrific flexibility as a filming location. The Racecourse has an extensive history of horse-racing events and reflects this proud legacy in its buildings and facilities.

While its image is dominated by its racecourse for obvious reasons, there is also a rich supply of indoor facilities. A dozen separate function rooms are available for use, in addition to entrances, staircases and corridors that can have multiple functions as both filming locations and production offices.

We offer an expansive and versatile 360-acre site that encompasses facilities including stables, extensive car parking and more specialist resources like a helipad.

Susie Bradshaw is Conference and Events Manager: “We offer an expansive and versatile 360-acre site that encompasses facilities including stables, extensive car parking and more specialist resources like a helipad.

“There’s a lot of space here that can really work to the advantage of visiting TV shows and films, and we can be used as production space even if a project isn’t necessarily filming at the Racecourse itself.”

The Centaur is among Racecourse’s more striking interior locations. It’s a 2,600-square-metre that offers versatile staging and HGV cargo doors for easy access. A recent visitor was long-running TV drama Casualty, which turned the Centaur into an airport interior and rigged up the space for special effects and mock explosions.

Cheltenham Racecourse provides an intriguing option for any production, particularly those filming in the west of England. It’s a resource that’s both film-friendly and open to production needs.
