Cinespace Film Studios negotiates to build new facility in Ottawa
Cinespace Film Studios in Toronto is negotiating to build a new filming facility in Canadian capital Ottawa. The city is putting up CAD1.5 million to support the development, which it hopes will quadruple the capital’s existing CAD50 million production industry.
Blair Patacairk is a senior adviser with Invest Ottawa and spoke to the Ottawa Citizen: “We have been saying how great Ottawa is and how it is an alternative to places like Toronto and Montreal, New York, Chicago or other places in the north-east. When we said to the studios that we were building a studio, it got their attention.”
Cinespace has been operating in Toronto for two decades and is likely to be formally awarded the development contract in early 2013.
