David Attenborough 3D documentary to film on location in Galapagos Islands
Naturalist and TV presenter David Attenborough will write and present a new wildlife film about the Galapagos Islands in the Pacific Ocean. Colossus Productions – formed by broadcasters Sky and Atlantic Productions – will produce and film on location in 3D.
Attenborough comments: “You can walk among them (the islands’ animals) carrying your own snap shot cameras or even carrying a 3D rig and they won’t go away. They continue behaving in just the way that they would do naturally. Galapagos is full of drama, full of charismatic creatures which you can film; it is a natural for 3D.”

John Cassy is Director of Sky 3D: “3D will bring the islands to life for our customers in a way that has never been possible before. Sir David and Atlantic Productions are the natural partners to take on this ambitious project.”
The Galapagos Islands are positioned around 500 nautical miles off the coast of Ecuador and are part of the country. They’re home to many unique species of wildlife as they were cut off from mainland South America early in geological time and have no land predators. They were only discovered by humans a few hundred years ago so the animals haven’t learned to fear people.
