Dominican Republic launches 25% filming incentive and gets Pinewood Studios facility

The Dominican Republic has announced a new filming incentive of up to 25% for features and TV shows alongside news that Pinewood Studios will be opening a new state-of-the-art facility in the country.

Ground will be broken today for the development of Pinewood Indomina Studios in Juan Dolio 40 miles east of Santo Domingo on Dominican Republic’s south coast.

The facility will offer 5,000 square metres of sound stages and 15,000 square metres of support facilities, as well as a water tank with natural horizon.

Ivan Dunleavy, Chief Executive of Pinewood Shepperton, said: “This represents further progress in Pinewood’s strategy to leverage the strength of our brand internationally and specifically to the growing Latino film and television market. The Pinewood brand stands for excellence in the global film industry and we have strategically targeted regions of the world where significant incremental growth has been forecast.”

Pinewood Studios Group has partnered with Indomina Group for the development, which produces and distributes media content from bases in the US and the Dominican Republic.
