Dry Goulburn in Australia used for Toyota Corolla ad
Fire services were on standby throughout the recent filming for a Toyota Corolla advert in Goulburn, Australia, owing to the dry environment and the summer shoot.
Camouflage tells the surreal story of a car transporter driver travelling down a remote highway who stops when a small dog appears in the road. Distracted, his cargo is taken by people who are initially hidden in camouflaged positions in the surrounding wilderness and even on the road itself.
GoodOil Films shot the piece on a highway in the rural town that is around two-and-a-half hours from Sydney in New South Wales. Laura Nash, Creative Co-ordinator at GoodOil, said: “Goulburn is an extremely dry environment and since we shot in the height of summer we needed to have fire fighting services with us.”
To help minimise the fire risk, fewer production vehicles were used and smoking was banned. In addition, the crew used ice packs to cool the road where the dog was sitting.
The production got a permit from the Goulburn Mulwaree Council and the location was intended to be non-specific. Ms Nash added: “The director was looking for an open expanse that could look like it was in Australia or in the Midwest of the USA.”
