Film London announces grants to boost cultural film initiatives
Film London has announced the eight organisations that will receive funding for growing access to cinema for under-represented audiences. GBP43,000 will be awarded to a combination of established film festivals and venues and new community-based projects who offer non-mainstream cultural film experiences across the capital.
Our funds for audience development initiatives are a key part of what Film London does.
The GBP43,000 is being drawn from the Cultural Film Exhibition Fund (CFEF) and the Community Pilot Fund (CPF) as a result of an open call for applications following the launch of the funds in September 2011.
Those receiving funding through the CFEF are City Screen, the third London Indian Film Festival, to be held in June 2012, the long running London International Animation Festival and the Palestine Film Festival 2012.
The organisations funded through the new CPF are Little Joe, the Council of Asian People in Haringey, the Bread and Roses Centennial Film Festival and the Lexi Cinema, a social enterprise in Brent.
Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of Film London said: “Our funds for audience development initiatives are a key part of what Film London does and now more than ever, they provide vital streams of income to sustain and nurture film exhibition activity in our city.”
