Filming incentives in New South Wales get AUSD25 million funding boost
The government in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, is to announce a AUSD25 million funding boost for existing filming incentives to encourage more production in the state.
Most of the money will be used to increase state incentives and attract more international and Australian films and TV productions to film in NSW. In addition, AUSD5 million will be used to support local state production through Screen NSW’s Production Investment Fund.
Bill Draper, Executive Vice-President of Physical Production at Warner Brothers in the US, said: “This fund will put NSW in serious consideration as we scout the world for potential locations for our upcoming features.”
More than 60% of drama productions filmed in Australia during 2008 and 2009 were made in NSW, according to figures from the National Drama Production Survey. The funding boost is scheduled to be announced as part of the upcoming NSW Budget.
