  • Hi

I am a producer currently working on a feature film and I have the following questions:

    – Does the new British film incentive only cover GB, or does it cover any territories or protectorates (e.g. Virgin Islands, Gilbraltor, Bermuda, Isle of Man, etc.)?

    – What other territories have attractive incentives and could serve as a back drop to a Western-ish film?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

Hello Michael – have you considered Canada’s Yukon? Have a look at our website at http://www.reelyukon.com for more information about our attractive incentive programs, crew, facilities and our credit list. Dawson City IS western set – no dressing required!

If you send your mailing address to info@reelyukon.com , we would be happy to send you a package of information about filming in Canada’s Yukon.

    Hi There,
I am with the Ontario Film Commission. Not to appear to be sending filming away from our own jurisdiction, but I might suggest the client contact the Alberta Film Commission, if they are looking for the “big sky country” sort of look for this western. Contact Dan Chugg at 1-780-422-8584, or dan.chugg@gov.ab.ca.
    Best of luck,

    Dear Michael,
New Zealand has a very attractive incentive rebate scheme (see http://www.filmnz.com) along with some very ‘western’ locations. If you would like us to send information and images please let me know – susan@filmnz.org.nz

    Hi Michael

The new tax credit in the UK applies only to the UK, and not, unfortunately, to its protectorates. It is based on film making activity carried out IN the UK, even when non UK nationals are used. There are incentives in many other countries, eg. Canada, Hungary, Luxembourg, South Africa, Ireland, to name a few. It might make more sense for you to give me a call to discuss further – my dd is +44 207 535 5794.

    Hello,

Westerns are made all the time in Ashcroft and Kamloops areas of British Columbia, Canada. “An Unfinished Life”, “Miss Texas”, “Deadman’s Gun”, “Gunfighter’s Moon”, “By Dawn’s Early Light” are just a few examples.

    Our web site:
    http://www.tnrd.bc.ca

    Click on “Film Commission”

See “Tax Credits” botton – for info; there is a Regional Tax Credit for filming outside Vancouver; an additional 6 per cent plus provincial and federal tax credits. There is also a post-production tax credit; they can all be combined.

See “Locations” botton – for images of desert and west ern themes. We also have a western movie town set. It’s also on the web site.

    Thank you for your inquiry.

We will be more than happy to build a web/ftp site, specifically designed to consist of locations for your project.
