    Hi All,

I’m looking for a double for Africa in the UK for a commercial. Red dusty atmosphere with shacks (Please excuse the cliche) Can anyone offer an suggestions please?

    Thanks,

    Kelly

    Hi Kelly
We have offices in Cape Town and Dubai.. You wont find anything in UK unless u build.
If you need help in South Africa thats cost effective I can help.

Hi Kelly – Are you old enough to remember Tenko? We shot that in worked-out sand quarries in Dorset where we built the prison camp. But sand is not red earth, which is a feature of the next-door county. Where else in the UK is reddish earth found? Some things are so easy to find out. As a professional location scout/manager my knowledge funds my mortgage, feeds my family and might even provide for my retirement, so you’d need to pay me to do any more work for you!

    Hi Kelly,

Why don’t you shoot it for real here in South Africa or Namibia? :)

It is very cost effective to work here during our Winter season. Let us send you a quote I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

    Hi Kelly,

Like Rob Champion had to double Singapore for Tenko, I had to double Africa for Squadron for the BBC. We had two areas which worked as the Falklands war broke out and we did not go to Belize. Alas, as a Location Scout/Manager nothing is free these days.

    All the best,

    Douglas Macdonald.

    Hi Kelly,

Here are some images of what can be found in the UK.

Lucky it’s a commercial because they usually have the budget for an art dept and a Location Manager. If you can get the budget through for someone to sort out your locations, and you like what you see, then give Rob Champion a call. He will be able to sort things out with the various land owners and the local authority for you. (I will let him know where these spots are).

Mind you, there’s not a lot he can do about the weather. There is something quite special about African skies that cannot be reproduced here in the UK.

kenya in africa is best suited for your project..friendly resonable cost . film equipment, locations ,crew n cast.

Why not try Formentera – and get a north african feel …or Malta
I can help you if you are interested

There is an African Village in the UK – I will pass on the details to Rob Champion, as he seems to have suggested the best possibilities for your shoot
