  • i’m searching for a ice skating location in central europe in august!
if possible with lightshow for ice disco.

nicer would be an older (shabby?) ice arena/ skating place with more flair and feel than a supermodern high tec sports arena.

    thanks so much for inspiration!

    Hello,

Have you considered filming in Northern Ireland?
Below is an ice bowl just 10-15mins from Belfast City centre, and has been in operation for years, so much of the building is old/shabby looking.

If it is a feature film you are doing, there are some considerable tax reliefs for filming in the UK, and also the Republic of Ireland, which is only an hour or so from this location.

    See the Ice Bowl website:

    I’ve included some pictures below.

Please feel free to contact me if this interests you.

Hello from West Finland Film Commission,

Located in West Finland, in the city of Turku, there are several options for the ice skating disco.

There is HK Arena, which is quite big (rink is 1800 square meters) and very versatile depending on your needs. There is a variety of quality lightning equipment in HK Arena. For more information on technical specifications http://www.hkareena.fi/en/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=77&Itemid=84.

There are also other smaller rinks in Turku, for example Varissuo Ice Rink and Impivaara Ice Rink. These are more down-to-earth styled places, but the lighting equipment is not so versatile as in HK Arena. Please check the photos!

If you can send us more information and details about what you’re looking for, we are happy to find more options for you in the region. We can also help you with practical arrangements if you choose this location.

For further information please contact us, West Finland Film Commission / nora.kuusisto@turku.fi / http://www.wffc.fi

    Dear Jeannette,

I am Teija-Liisa from Finnish Lapland Film Commission, and I am more than happy to help you find an ideal location for your shoot.

In Lapland we have several smaller ice skating arenas all over our region. The biggest one in Lapland you can find from the Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi, where there are all types of events going on through out the year: http://www.lappi-areena.com/eng/index.php. If you are interested in smaller and maybe more intimate ones you can get quick preview of those from these links:

    hi ,

well , your requirement is for central europe but just for your information there are quiet a few malls in india in big cities with ice skating facilities . so if u are interested let me know .

    cheers
    junaid

i find it a tiny bit frustrating, that there isnt even a “thanks for your suggestions” note or anything…

thank you very much everybody for your input and suggestions.
after scouting nearly all over europe, we’ve finally found somebody who builts an artificial ice surface into any location. (if you’re interested: http://www.like-ice.com)
i have seen great ice arenas in your suggestions, but the problem is eather the timetables for the training teams or the expensive and travel costs (sorry, finland and belfast).

sorry that i could not contact everyone, but i’ve picked the most suitable locations and time was running anyhow.

    happy day to everyone,
    jeannette
