  • Hello,

I have a low budget TVC from Thailand which required us to shoot on location in Perth, Australia in an apple orchard. Shooting date is April 3rd.

    Hello Pat,
That is certainly something I could help you with.
It would probably take me a day to visit a few of the orchards to take pictures to send you.
I can also discuss with the owners the possibilities for shooting at their orchards.
I would also more than likely need to be present on the shooting day to assist with liaising with said owners.
My rates are $500 per day (plus 10% GST).
If you would like to go ahead please let me know proposed date(s) of shooting and when you would like to have the images by.
My terms of payment are 50% up front and 50% on delivery.
Thankyou for the enquiry and I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
    Kind Regards

    Hi Pat,

We can certainly help you out.

It’s autumn in Perth so Orchards will be either full of fruit or empty depending on the apple variety. Most of the orchards around Perth are within the metro area which means that you probably wouldn’t have to pay travel time for the local crew if using.

Aside from location scouting do you need assistance with crew and/or equipment?

Please find all info about our company here: http://www.openspaces.com.au and don’t hesitate to contact us via email beatrice @open-spaces.com.au or via phone: +61 4 03 75 44 66.

Looking forward to hearing you soon.

    Hi Pat,
    Here’s a bit of rundown…
Tree/Bush fruits WA in Autumn – Apples (Green, Gold, & Red) Pears, Quinces, Figs, Kiwifruit… everything else is pretty much out of season.
Vineyards could make a great alternative – still in season.
For something completely different there’s the City of Perth Orchard Garden set against the backdrop of the city which is an interesting look.
Note. You’d also becoming on the back of a hot dry summer and while the orchards will be lush and green the surrounding countryside may not be.

There are not really any orchards within 20km of the CBD so you’ll have to consider travel time, and the nicer ones are further out in the Chittering Valley, Roleystone etc (35-50km)
The best are 180km away in the South West, Donnybrook and Balingup etc.

If you want gold – Ord Valley in the Kimberley is ablaze with variety and colour as it’s the end of the Wet Season…

Anyway – my tips and happy discuss further if you’re interested.
    cheers

    Hi Pat,

Orchards shouldn’t be a problem. There are some quite close to the metro area – depending on the variety of apple you are looking for.

2 hours south of Perth is the home of Apple orchards, with a large range of varieties.

Let me know if you would like further info. We can also help with crewing and equipment.

    Hi Pat,

I just got your brief on the Apple Farm location on the Location Guide.

April is the perfect season for South Africa. It is very cost effective to shoot here and our film industry is enourmous. Would you consider working here?

Please can you send us your script so we can quote it and send you a location presentation.

Here is an apple orchard we used in a German TVC for Centrum:

    Hi Pat,
Should you find it difficult to locate the Apple Orchard that you prefer in Perth / Australia then please consider New Zealand.
late March and throughout April there are Orchards harvesting various Apple varieties so we may well be able to help you out.
Give us a call or send additional info should you consider NZ an option.
