  • Hi there,

I am looking for a Researcher-Fixer in Laos, Cambodia or Myanmar to explore the possibilities of filming a story on travelling libraries in one of these countries.

Filming dates are sometime in late February to early March 2015 (5 days, excluding travelling time).

I’d appreciate any assistance I can get on whether this form of library is still active/ still exists in these countries, especially travelling libraries using animals for transport.

    Thank you.

    Hi Josclynne,

There is a mobile library who use elephants to access remote villages in Thailand, awarded the UNESCO literary prize in 2002.

Please email with more details of your requirements.

    Hi Josclynne

Nick here from Navigator Communications in Cambodia – you might want to investigate this little book promoting NGO who seem to have a mobile (moto) component to what they do – bringing books to poor people/children in the provinces. They are called SIPAR. Let me know further details if you need more help. All the best. Nick

    Hi Josclynne,

There are very very few mobile libraries using animals as transport. Its there only towards the heavily forested areas and areas where there no roads. There are a few people who promote their books and also send materials to children ( Basic education ) Mainly in Cambodia and Myanmar. Thailand has converted railway carriages to mobile libraries.

Let me do some check at my end and revert to you

    Josclynne…

I’ll do some checking in Myanmar [and possibly Thailand] for you…

    Dear Josclynne,

Greetings from Myanmar. It is great to hear that you are interest to make a content in Myanmar. Actually, in our country we didn’t use animal for traveling libraries.

Daw Aung San Su Kyi is operating one mobile library by her mother, Daw Khin Kyi Foundation that supports by Japanese NGO.

My company is providing basic education to those who are working at teashop by using mobile classrooms by using renovated old buses by the name of MyME project.

Some individual volunteer teams go around and teach at the monastery.

Any how, if you need any fixer or production coordinator or line producer in Myanmar, do not hesitate to let me know. You can reach me through
    with best regrds,
