Update: Hi, I have changed this post from one seeking Caribbean locations for a feature film to considering these locations for future projects in our travel-related web series.

If you are involved in the film or tourism industries in that region, I would like to learn more about your country’s incentives for filmmakers. Also, I am interested in places that has a strong or growing film community and talent pool of actors and actresses. I am producing a web series related to travel, and wanted to connect with location managers and fixers in the area.

To all who have responded, thank you. I have been reviewing your websites and information. If I find that you could be a match for these projects, then I will follow up with you via email. If not, then you will still be kept in mind for future projects. Thank you for reaching out.

    Thank you!

The Location Guide’s global incentives subscription section has every incentive for any production. Our simplified format allows you to get a quick overview and understanding of the incentive you are interested in.

You can also use our unique comparison tool to see which region’s incentive is the best fit for your production.

So if you are filming on location, we can help you save time and money.

    Hola!

Costa Rica is a great alternative to shoot in Central America. Costa Rica incentive is that most countries charge a tax in services we don’t, in most countries in latin America is between 12% and 15% so it’s a big discount.

Costa Rica has the caribbean and the pacific at a very short distance. Form the capital you can be at the pacific in 1 1/2 hours and travel to the atlantic in 3 hours to one of the most exotic beaches. Or be at the rain forest, water rafting, in a Crystal clear waterfall or in a exuberant volcano in 1 1/2 hours.

LCA Productions (http://www.lcaproductions.com) is boutique production service company focus mainly in Production Services. Please let us know how we could help in your productions.

    Saludos,

    Hola:

I forgot to mention there is a tax incentive in CR. But it has some restrictions.
Costa Rica has a Free Trade Zone regime, which multinational film productions can take advantage of. Investing in Costa Rica describes these as ‘a set of incentives and benefits granted by the Costa Rican government to companies making new investments in the country’. There are several tax and customs benefits to productions regardless of their type or size. They include:
    * 100% exemption on all import duties for raw materials, equipment and components
    * Total tax exemption on the importation of materials and supplies required for a production, such as, car rental services including petrol, and catering services
    * 100% tax break for four years which goes to a 50% break after the first four years
    * Expedited customs for the temporary importation of equipment and
    * Full exemption of customs bonds.
Filmmakers are required to invest $150,000 in fixed assets inside of a free zone area, but are permitted to film anywhere they wish.
This works more for movies of course
    Saludos,
