    Hi Trine,

Early May would be the perfect time for Western Norway. We have snow, dog sleds, as well as the coastal locations and grand mountain landscapes.

I will send you more info on email. Attached photos are taken in the first two weeks of May – in the mountain plateaus there are still lots of snow, while closer to the coast the mountains are barren and green.

You could find all three locations within a couple of hours drive.

Western Norway has several stunning waterfalls facing roads and parking spaces, Langfossen, Låtefossen, Tvindefossen, Sivlefossen to name just a few. Some photos here: http://www.wnfc.no/filmlocations/rivers-dams-and-waterfalls/

Email me on sigmund@wnfc.no to discuss.

    Hi Matthias,

Have you considered Western Norway? Attaching a few shots from a valley with truly rough epic nature locations – this specific location is just 30 minutes from airport and hotel.

Norwegian film crews have a very flexible approach to production, are efficient, creative, and budget conscious!

    Hi Anke,

There are many small airports in Western Norway, beautifully set amongst fjords and mountains, or on the coast.

Email me at sigmund@wnfc.no if you’d like to hear more.

    Hi Alex,

Here’s a couple of architect’s pics from the Trollstigen Visitor Centre, set in the most dramatic mountains in Western Norway. Spectacular views of the landscape.

Glass, steel, concrete, and stepped pools control the flow of the river around the buildings, which ends up in a series of waterfalls. It could very well be a James Bond baddie’s mountain fortress….

The centre opened in June last year.

    Hi,

You will find many apple gardens in the pristine and majestic Norwegian fjords of Hardanger and Sogn. The harvesting season starts from mid-August to September, so August could be an option here. Not July for ripe apples.

I will email you some shots.

    Hi Peter,

Looking forward to assisting you in finding the perfect spot in the magical fjords of Norway. In Western Norway we have around 300 fjords, and wonderful places to stay and people to work with… I think Lodalen, Fjaerland, Hardanger, Geiranger and many more might be options to look further into.

    Hi Fi!

There’s lots of snow in Norway, and we have a web site where you can compile snow data, looking into historical snow depths for specific time periods and regions and so forth: http://senorge.no/mappage.aspx

Don’t know if there is an international version of this – would certainly be useful (someone?)!

In Western Norway snow season runs from November/December – April, but longer in higher altitudes (3000 feet).

in reply to: Snow in October??

    Richard A Rose

    Hi there!

In Western Norway we have over 100 glaciers, including Northern Europe’s biggest glacier. Several of them are film-friendly, with paved road access and villages / hotels within a 20 minutes drive. And based in Bergen, Norway we are just 1h45min from London airports.

Mid/late October is a bit early for snow in the lowlands, but there will be snow in most of our mountain areas.

Have a look at http://www.snowlocation.com for a look at some of our options, and please get in touch with more details!

    Hi Shirley,

Norway might be an option for you; “Raumabanen” and possibly “Flåmsbanen”. They are both set in spectacular landscapes. However, snow at the tree line first week of may is stretching it a bit… I can check current conditions when I’m back in office after Easter, there will anyhow be snow-capped mountains throughout entire May.
