Iron Man 3 to film partly on location in China with co-production deal

Marvel’s upcoming superhero sequel Iron Man 3 has announced it will film partly on location in China. Disney, Marvel’s parent company, has a co-production deal with Beijing-based DMG Entertainment. In the US the film will be based at EUE/Screen Gem Studios in North Carolina.

Our collaboration with Disney and Marvel marks a milestone in the global entertainment landscape, as this signifies the first multi-billion dollar franchise to be produced between Hollywood and China.

Disney is just one of the Hollywood studios looking at ways to enter the lucrative Chinese market, although Iron Man 3 is being described as the first billion-dollar franchise to be made under the co-production deal. DMG has already co-produced with US production companies on the upcoming Bruce Willis sci-fi Looper.
