Jim Beam, Moneyball and House MD among winners at California On-Location Awards
Whiskey brand Jim Beam, feature Moneyball and TV show House MD won some of the big prizes last weekend at the California On-Location Awards (COLAs). Gongs went both to individual location professionals and specific teams, with the team categories often involving a dozen or so people.
Among the biggest awards Louis de Fontanes took the gong for Location Professional of the Year in Commercials for his work for Jim Beam, while Nancy Haecker took the same award in the TV Episodic category for medical drama House MD. S Todd Christensen was declared the winner in the Studio Feature Film category for his work on Brad Pitt feature Moneyball.
The COLAs recognise the significant contribution that location professionals make to the overall process of film and television production.
Pauline East, North Los Angeles County Film Liaison and COLA Co-Chair
The location team at Furlined won in the commercials team category for their work for Chevrolet. Meanwhile, the teams responsible for cancelled TV show The Event and, again, Moneyball, won in the TV Episodic and Studio Feature Film categories, respectively.
Pauline East is North Los Angeles County Film Liaison and COLA Co-Chair: “The COLAs recognise the significant contribution that location professionals make to the overall process of film and television production. Oftentimes these individuals make ‘movie magic’ possible without getting the kudos they deserve.”
This was the COLAs’ 17th year and the ceremony was held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Film Liaisons in California Statewide (FLICS) is the main organiser, with involvement from Film LA as well.
