The fifth instalment in Michael Bay’s highly successful Transformers series was shot in locations throughout Namibia, parts of the UK and in Phoenix, Arizona.
Phoenix, Arizona brought in just over USD32 million from production related expenditure throughout 2016, the highest rate incurred by the industry since 2009. Work on Michael Bay’s action-sequel, Transformers: The Last Knight resulted in the largest individual spend of the year, to the tune of USD15 million.

Production has commenced on Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film, with scenes being shot in Lythe, North Yorkshire. The current untitled film marks Anderson’s first project since 2014’s Inherent Vice and the first time that the Director has worked with Daniel Day-Lewis since There Will Be Blood.
Avengers: Infinity War, the third instalment in the successful Marvel crossover series will be filmed in Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Highlands. Principal photography will commence on February 28th, taking up residence for a total of six months and investing around GBP10 million into the local economy.
After concluding its first season last Sunday with a critically acclaimed finale, reports have emerged that production on the second season of HBO’s Westworld will commence in summer 2017. Abstaining from the traditional approach in television of airing a new season each year, Westworld season two will premiere in 2018.
A new report issued by Mayor Rahm Emmanuel’s office has revealed that Chicago brought home a total of USD1.3 billion via film and television from 2011-2015, a massive increase when compared to the USD600 million brought in from 2006-2010.
