The currently dilapidated Kalinga Studio in East India is to be revamped into a state of the art facility as part of a redevelopment project spearheaded by The Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC).
The Portuguese authorities have announced plans to introduce the country’s first formal film incentives programme. The 2016 state budget has permitted the implementation of an incentives system that will cater to productions that incur a minimum eligible expenditure of EUR1 million.
The upcoming sequel to Marvel Studios’ sci-fi superhero film Guardians of the Galaxy is to begin filming on location in Atlanta, Georgia on February 11th. The announcement comes from Director James Gunn’s Facebook page after he uploaded a picture showing the film’s main cast in rehearsals.

Big Little Lies, a brand new series commissioned by HBO and an adaptation of the book of the same name will begin filming on location in Monterey, California at the end of January. HBO has frequented the west coast as a filming location in the past, with Mad Men partially being filmed on location at Big Sur which is close to Monterey.
After filming on location at Skellig Michael in Ireland, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is expected to cause a surge in tourism to the area upon its December 17th release. The production filmed at Skellig Michael in July 2014, off the coast of County Kerry with cast members including Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley.
