This year’s Young Director Award is open for entries, with filmmakers invited to submit their short movies by 24 May 2015. The CFP-E (Commercial Film Producers of Europe)/Shots Young Director’s Award (YDA) is a fringe event of the Cannes Film Festival.

Dubai will celebrate the release of Bollywood movie Happy New Year tomorrow by hosting the film’s world premiere. The movie stars Shah Rukh Khan and is one of the biggest international films to have shot in the city in a year in which Indian cinema has dominated in Dubai.
China is planning to launch an annual film grant programme worth about USD 163 million for movies that shoot at the Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis. Plans for the USD 8.2 billion studio on China’s east coast were announced by the Wanda Group last year.
China is developing plans for a new Film City in Anji, near Shanghai. Working through a partnership with authorities in Cannes, three Chinese entities want to develop a special zone inspired by the French city’s cultural impact that will provide film services and a dedicated festival.
Belgian directing duo Norman Bates produced a short entitled Birth, which was used as the ident for this year’s Young Director Award (YDA) ceremony in Cannes. The short film takes the point of view of a baby as it’s born, with the doctors revealing it’s filming its own journey.
This year, for the first time, we organised The Location Beach Lounge on Plage Goeland during the Cannes Lions Festival. Co-hosting with our partners CrossWind Advertising, Ooops Films, Joshua Tree and Ready To Shoot, we offered an exclusive decked beach space on the Croisette.
