A 12th Century castle in western Scotland will be an exterior shoot location for Sam Mendes’ new Bond film. Duntrune Castle near Lochgilphead in Argyll will be shot in February 2012. The region has a rich history and the castle itself was originally built to guard Kilmartin and Kilmichael glens.
It’s been a big week for the UK film industry with the launch of Creative England, the organisation that’s designed to replace the UK Film Council. The new James Bond film, starring Daniel Craig and directed by Sam Mendes, will be filming scenes in Istanbul, according to the Anatolia news agency. The popular tourist area of Sultanahmet is likely to be the focus, but other parts of the city are apparently being considered too.

The new James Bond film has abandoned plans to film on location in India, with South Africa being the likely replacement. India was on the verge of being confirmed for the franchise for the first time in nearly 30 years, but permitting delays might have been a factor in scuppering the plans.
