The Location Managers Guild International (formerly the Guild of America) will be returning as an exhibitor at this year’s FOCUS event. Mick Ratman will be leading the exhibition with a number of guild members including Angus Ledgerwood (Kong: Skull Island), Graeme MacKenzie (Broadchurch) and Chris Morgan (Houdini and Doyle).
The third season of ITV’s crime series Broadchurch has begun filming in the show’s usual location of Dorset, England. The production is currently shooting at a cliff top house near the West Bay which has been featured before on the show, after it was revealed that the house would be demolished at the owner’s request.
Harry Potter and period drama Downton Abbey helped drive film tourism in England in 2014. Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, and the Dorset filming locations used for child murder drama Broadchurch, contributed to an overall spend of up to GBP 140 million.
Government funding of CAD 1.2 million has been awarded to Creative BC to help boost British Columbia’s creative industries, including the film and TV sectors. Vancouver is one of Canada’s main production centres and has recently hosted Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Godzilla.
New BBC America TV drama Intruders shot on location in Vancouver, British Columbia, using the province’s filming incentives to double the city for Seattle. The series follows a secretive society that seeks refuge in the bodies of others as a way of pursuing immortality.
Wanda Productions filmed on location in Vancouver and nearby Squamish for a new spot for the Nissan X-Trail. Adventure Calling features a motorist chasing a thief who escapes by bike before making a wilderness skydive, only to be then revealed as the driver’s more adventurous doppelganger.
Upcoming crime drama Backstrom filmed in Vancouver, doubling the city for Portland, Oregon. The show features US comedy star Rainn Wilson in his first dramatic role as a disgruntled detective in the vein of Gregory House. It’s based on a Swedish book series by writer Leif GW Persson.
A second series of ITV’s murder drama Broadchurch will once again film on location in Dorset on the south coast of England. Broadchurch was a big hit and followed the impact of a child murder investigation in a small seaside community.
