Yosemite National Park in California is one of the popular American filming locations suffering as a result of the continued US government shutdown. Politicians in Washington, DC, have failed to agree a new budget, meaning federally-owned land across the US is closed for business.
Location filming in Los Angeles increased by nearly 10% in the third quarter of 2013 compared to the same period last year, the city has announced. Feature production rose by nearly 20% between July and September, while commercial filming went up by 18%.

Construction has begun on Park City Film Studios near Salt Lake City in Utah with a ground-breaking ceremony. Over the course of a staged development, the studio will eventually offer a main 45,000-square-foot sound stage and a smaller divisible 15,000-square-foot stage among its facilities.
A production deal has been agreed between the BBC and The Weinstein Company on a new TV production of the epic Tolstoy novel War and Peace. First published in 1869, the book is set in early 19th Century Russia but is likely to be filmed on location in the UK.
New Anglo-French murder mystery The Tunnel filmed on location throughout East Kent in the UK. Adapted from Scandinavian murder mystery series The Bridge, the story begins with a body found midway through the Channel Tunnel.
New BBC comedy Ambassadors, starring British comedy duo David Mitchell and Robert Webb, filmed partly on location in Bursa in western Turkey. The show follows a pair of British diplomats as they set up an embassy in a fictional former Soviet satellite state in central Asia.
