Chile is facing the tricky task of tackling international ideas of what it can safely deliver in the aftermath of the February 27th earthquake. Concepcion in the southern part of the country was worst-affected. However, Chile has since contended with media images focussing on localised devastation that doesn’t reflect the state of the rest of the country.

New Zealand is earning a reputation as a double for locations all over the world, with its towns and cities being used alongside its natural scenery. A 2.5% increase in the country’s Large Budget Screen Production Grant (LBSPG) in the summer of 2007 resulted in nearly NZD50 million in grants being paid out to productions between July 2008 and June 2009, according to figures from Film New Zealand. In addition, this now includes a post, digital and visual effects grant.

Betsafe doubles South Africa for Mediterranean

The new commercial for Betsafe has used locations outside Cape Town in South Africa to double for the Mediterranean. Crabs shows two men in a classical silent dual as they jump into a churning sea. One emerges with a small crab in his mouth, while the other has a large crab in his swimming trunks.
