Warp Films shot on location in the market town of Faversham in Kent, south-east England, for TV drama Southcliffe. The miniseries follows a journalist who returns to his hometown in the aftermath of a deadly mass shooting to try and make sense of the killings.
Michael Bay’s Transformers 4 has started filming in Michigan, building a Hong Kong set in Detroit as a double for the Chinese city. Filming will continue through to mid-August and the production has been awarded a substantial incentive payment on expenditure of about USD65 million.
French TV series Brooklyn Taxi is to become the first international show to benefit from New York’s filming tax credit. The production will be based at Silvercup Studios in Queens and will also film on location in Brooklyn. It will be filmed in English for French television.

A new period TV movie exploring the life of Lizzie Borden has filmed on location in Nova Scotia, doubling the Canadian province for the US state of Connecticut. Borden was acquitted of the axe-murder of her parents in 1892 in a case that was never solved and caused a media storm.
Star Ryan Gosling filmed on location in Bangkok for Nicolas Winding Refn’s nightmarish crime feature Only God Forgives. The film follows Gosling’s boxing club owner as he seeks to avenge the murder of his brother in the criminal underworld of the Thai capital.

New Zealand will encourage more high-end TV productions of the calibre of Spartacus to film locally by making its filming incentives more accessible. From October 2013, the spending threshold for television productions to qualify for support will be sharply reduced.
