Origin Pictures filmed the BBC’s adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s novel Jamaica Inn mostly in Yorkshire in northern England. Set in Cornwall, south-west England, in 1821, Jamaica Inn tells the story of a young woman who becomes embroiled with smugglers on the Cornish coast.
Mammoth Screen will film new period drama Poldark on location in Bristol and Cornwall in south-west England for the BBC. Company Pictures recently filmed at The Bottle Yard Studios for Channel 4’s period miniseries New Worlds.
Filming has started on location in Prague for the second season of the BBC’s adventure series The Musketeers. As with the first series, the drama is doubling the Czech Republic for 17th Century Paris in a story inspired by Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel.

The BBC and Urban Myth Films have started shooting a new series of family fantasy drama Atlantis on location in south Wales. Filming is taking place at a retrofitted studio facility in Chepstow, east of Cardiff.
Actor Tom Hardy will partner with filmmaker Ridley Scott on Steven Knight’s new eight-part period miniseries Taboo, which will film in the UK. Scott will be an executive producer on the drama set in 1813 that will star Hardy as a rogue adventurer building a shipping empire.
Location filming will take place in London and Hong Kong for the BBC’s new two-part TV drama One Child. Co-produced by the BBC and Sundance TV, the production will tell the story of a Chinese-born woman adopted by Anglo-American parents as a result of China’s ‘One Child’ policy.
Northern Ireland Screen has received a funding increase from the government of more than 50% to help boost the region’s production industry over the next four years. Funding of nearly GBP43 million will help Northern Ireland build on the international success of Game of Thrones.
