The upcoming film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which operates as both a prequel and a spinoff to the Harry Potter series, has begun filming in Liverpool, a city in the northwest of England, doubling as New York City.
The UK has been given approval by the European Union (EU) to boost its filming incentive programme. Productions will now get a 25% tax credit on all their eligible UK spending, in a move that could help attract more shoots on the scale of Star Wars and 24: Live Another Day.
New children’s fantasy Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them has started filming at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden in north-west London. Written by JK Rowling, the movie is set 70 years before the events of the Harry Potter stories and stars Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne.
The BBC’s adaptation of JK Rowling’s 2012 novel The Casual Vacancy starts filming today on location in Stroud, near Bristol in south-west England. Produced by Bronte Film and Television and in association with HBO, the story traces tensions in a fictional market village in rural England.
