Preparations are underway for The Location Guide to make a triumphant return to Cannes Lions with our much loved Cannes Soirée and Location Beach Lounge. As per usual, the Cannes Soirée is a major fringe event that brings together key decision makers within the screen industries in a networking event unlike any other.
The Advertising Producers Association (APA) returns this year as a sponsor for The Location Guide’s Cannes Soiree at the Cannes Lions Festival. The APA has created an infrastructure to fully support Producers, Production Companies and VFX Companies working within the commercials industry.
The Production Service Network (PSN) is returning as a partner for The Location Guide’s Cannes Soiree at Cannes Lions. PSN was launched in early 2014 and in this short time has amassed a notable client base of producers who have quickly adopted its one-stop shop approach to local shoot support worldwide.
Director Greg McLean’s upcoming film Jungle, has finished filming on location in Colombia. Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Jungle is based on the true story of one Yossi Ghinsberg who ventured out on a trip through the Amazon jungle and lived to tell the tale. The production has qualified to receive Colombia’s 40% cash rebate incentive for feature films, made-for-television features and documentaries.
In a bid to compete with other major locations and secure large scale international productions, New South Wales have introduced a USD20 million film fund. Made in NSW will aim to expand the film industry within the Australian territory by doubling the existing fund to an incredible USD40 million over the next two years.
Sky 1’s brand new series adapted from Marion Chesney’s Agatha Raisin mystery novels, was filmed on location in Bristol. The new series was commissioned after the success of 2014s Christmas special, Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death which was shot in Bristol and Biddestone, Wiltshire and attracted a viewership of over one million.
Despite previous reports that Minnesota’s ‘Snowbate’ incentive programme was to be defunded, the state Governor Mark Dayton has signed a bill to supply the scheme with an extra USD4.5 million. Under the new bill, the Snowbate programme will now have an overall fund of USD6 million to distribute amongst productions that film on location in Minnesota.
The Nice Guys, starring Ryan Gosling (The Big Short) and Russell Crowe (Noah) descended upon Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles and Northyards Boulevard in Atlanta to film on location. The production also visited California’s Covina Bowl which has retained its retro aesthetic and fits the film’s period setting perfectly.
